moo ping

moo ping means "grilled pork" in thai.

2 things you can easily find in bangkok are grilled pork and street dogs. i just finished a thai movie "a bite of love". its about a friendship between a young girl and a puppy.

it was a street puppy who lost his mother (another street dog). and Kao Neow was a girl who raised up by her distance relatives. kao neow saw him when he's waiting for scrap of grilled pork under a street vendor's cart. thats why kao neow called him moo ping.

somehow the relatives did not allow her to bring a puppy home so she brought moo ping on her backpack anywhere she went. when moo ping get big enough to fit in her backpack, her "family" released moo ping to a far away temple. kao neow then find out that even her family rejected her.

she decided to leave home and seeking for moo ping, her true friend. she met a friend who gave her shelter and he taught her how to sell garland. in spare time will they visited temples for moo ping.

in the mean time moo ping got a new master, a rich and generous lady. moo ping were in a nice car with the lady when kao neow came over to offered garlands but moo ping had grown become a big and handsome dog that kao neow did not recognize him. the story did not happen to has happy ending :(

why everybody is leaving?

why everybody is leaving?

my colleague sharmila left the company last august 8
my previous house mate vrushali left for india this august 30
my good friend ruili left for france sept 9
my lunch mate yong qiang will leave for new jersey this oct 8

why everybody is leaving?
it just a matter of time and everybody will leave ..

ezekiel 39:28 says :
"then they will know that I am the LORD their God, for though I sent them into exile among the nations, I will gather them to their own land, not leaving any behind"

home to stay

its been about 7 months i live here.

one of the things i need to find is a church to attend. by default im a baptist :p a very baptist one. thats my personal background. i love love love the hymns and the choir. also the teaching. but when a home does not give you impression of being at home .. then it becomes a mess. yet you become a stranger in your own "home".

i went to many churches here. when my brother was here, we went to "bethany english service" in orchard towers ( since the service is 14.00 as we woke up late, and since i attended bes in kuningan - jakarta for several months before i came here). then we attended sunset service of the "thomson road baptist church", 5 mins walk from novena mrt. then attended "international baptist church" in kings road for couple of times. after my brother went back to jakarta, i tried to attend some other churches that meet my "time" and yet easy to reach.

other churches i tried to attend were :
* city harvest church in jurong west. so full with young people. so energic and dynamic.
* community of praise baptist church in outram road but always missed the service :p (once i was late, the next time i was there but they had outdoor sunday service that time.
* faith community baptist church in max pavilion, s'pore expo, just like chc, fcbc is full of young people with thirst of knowing God, big, they make full of latest modern facilities. and you got many exhibition events to visit after church, just in the next expo pavilions!
* ang mo kio methodist church, just across my apartement.
* st. peter churh or something in outram road, a chatolic mass. i was late (again!) and hard to find a seat because so many people were there!
* st. andrews chatolic church, next to the city hall mrt. it was a great "new life" chatolic service. i will never forget the message sent by pastor spencer from haggai institute.

all of those "seeking experience" were not because i was seeking for my "christian identity" but i was just looking for a home to stay. i was looking for a place where i can feel comfortable and welcome.

for this last few weeks i just found my new home. tough i do not know anyone there, i just feel that im not a stranger in that new place. and the most important is that i can get what i need : powerful words to strengthen my tired spirit and annointed messages that give me courages to live my days.

cornerstone community church is not as big as fcbc or chc but it has the same spirit and passion to make the fullest of "modern" living. there's nothing wrong with any other churches i ever/never attended. the difference is that i feel home in cornerstone :)

psalm 27:4 says :
"one thing i ask of the LORD, this is what i seek: that i may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple"

(not) a real friend

i thought he is a real friend.

though we only know each other online, we got our own life, we used to be freely talk about many things. yes, we argued. we used to share. he used to encouraged me in my hardest times in this foreign place and laugh at me when i shared silly things.

for years he laugh at me for being silly and stupid but sometimes i felt that he laugh because he looked down at me. the time has come that i cannot bear more laugh from him. he keep looking down at me. i was really upset and thats the end of our friendship.

nothing remain the same, i cannot pretend to be friendly and warm.

proverbs 12:9
"better to be a nobody and yet have a servant than pretend to be somebody and have no food"

time runs so fast

i need to sum up all my journeys for this last six months.

yes, i took some of my times to go to some places and not even review it here in my blog. for short i went to mallaca with miss ruili for 2 days, went to bangkok for 4 days with myself, spent 4 days in ho chi minh with dunkdunk. and if johor bahru needs to be in the set, i went to jb with myself and the other time with my mom.

a lot of pictures i got from the trips. in average i took 500 pics a day in a trip. so its about 6000 pics. 6000 is excluding my exploration within singapore or even everyday events since i really love to capture things around me. normally i put my selection of pics in my gallery. but since now i dont have enough time to pick out some of them for my online gallery.

and guess what .. i did not even finish my picture selection for the year of 2007! its about the project in semarang and many things happened in 2007. time runs so fast as tomorrow we will start the month of september.

psalm 65:11 says :
"You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance"

the best way to eat durian ..

today is friday.

i was really tired with the whole week office work, especially these last 2 days with francis, our kinaxis consultant from hongkong. so i asked a friend to join me dinner. we ate japanese food. i love the cold tofu salad they have.

after dinner i decided to buy some durian. i chose a package of $5 durian. my friend said that she did not want to get one package, but maybe will try a bit. then we find a good place to take a seat and continue our talk.

as we talk about dreams, life and its objectives, we started to eat the durian. for me it was the best $5 durian i ever eat. it was soft, smell very good, very sweet with little bit bitter taste because of the alcohol. she agreed with me (though its little too sweet for her) and took more of the durian. i have pity of people who do not like durian.

ppiglet : this durian is good. it is the best durian i ever had.
a friend : no, its not the best. its just taste better since you share it with a friend.
ppiglet : yea, maybe its taste better because i share it with a friend
a friend : for me its the best since i dont pay the durian :p

so the moral of the story is :
durian is good.
durian tastes better when you have a friend to share.
the best durian is when you share it with a friend and no need to pay for the durian.

ecclesiastes 2:24-25 says :
"a man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. this too, i see, is from the hand of God, for without Him, who can eat or find enjoyment?"
