hunting a place to rent was not too easy to do. we need to deal with the high price also half price for the property agent. also a lot of parameters like facility, owner, location, environment, etc. i'd like to find a place near to my office in ang mo kio, so i think serangoon north or hougang would be perfect.
firstly we visit an hdb apartement in hougang. it took a long time to find the block. its a very quiet place. too quiet for me. the room itself is okie dokie. the price is ok too. clean, attached bathroom, spacious, tv and wardrobe included. not too far from ang mo kio, only about 7 minutes by bus. we would live with the owner, a chinese family with 2 kids and an aunty.
in the same night we cannot find the second place in serangoon after we walk around and around serangoon mrt station. the block should be 'near mrt station' as the agent told us but we were too tired. so we back home (read: guesthouse). hmmm.. emi's advice should be considered : "ci bet .. beli map dong, liat map!" (means : "sis bet .. buy a map please, read the map!"). hahahaha....
the next day emi told me about a place in lavender, the adv said :"near lavender mrt". since i still dont have map, that evening we tried to read local map provided in the exit way of mrt station. hahahha.. emi, its not too easy reading a map, you know :p but however we find the place. its a cooool place :D the owner would not live in the flat, clean, wood floor, partially black painted wall with 2 tiny clinging lamps, tv and wardrobe included, cooking is allowed, will live with other 4 tenants :) but we missed the room since 2 filipino girls came earlier than us and took the room. sad .. sad .. sad .. but its ok, its quite far from my office. it took 40-50 minutes away by bus.
for jakarta citizen, being 1 hour away from home to office is common. for me, i would be thankful if i can get home in only 1 hour. but here .. more than 20 minutes classified as far. my friend emi even wishes for a 5 minutes away location :D
the next place we came was a landed property in ang mo kio, not an hdb apartement or condominium. i never dream that i will rent a room in a house because a landed property here is very very expensive. but its not a dream at all. its a big spacious common room in second floor, 3x6 meters, tv, refrigerator, a/c, wardrobe, 2 desk + 1 chair, queen size bed included and everything i mentioned is brand new! they just repainting the wall, the bath room is clean. it has wooden floor and big window. the place is quiet, near to bus stop, about 25 minutes to my office. cooking allowed and the owner will not stay with us. it's also has a reasonable price.
saturday morning we confirmed the agent that we will take the room and will move there saturday evening :) .. yipppyyyy ...... finally we got a permanent place to stay. :)
